Module 3

1. Describe Color and it's effects on emotions. Use the appropriate vocabulary of color in your posting. Interpretations of color can be subjective, there are several color effects with universal meanings to them. Colors that are part of the red color spectrum are known as a warm color. These colors include red, orange, and yellow. Warm colors can make people feel warmth and comfort but, can also cause a feeling of anger and hostility.  Colors part of the Blue spectrum are known as cool colors. These colors include blue, purple, and green. These colors tend to make others feel calm but also cause a feeling of sadness depending on the way it is used.  Several Ancient cultures used to practice using colors as a way to heal but now, these colors are used in light therapy or colorology.
2. What is a theoretical aspect of color that most intrigues/fascinates you? Why? Different colors have different effects on different people. For example, I love yellow. It's such light color, it just reminds me of elegance. It gives off good vibes for me but for someone else looking at the color, they could hate it. It can cause feelings of anger if used in certain ways.
3. In the Color video, what made the biggest impact on you in regards to color and it's effects on emotions? What had the biggest impact on me was when June Redfern interpreted colors. When she was visiting Venice she portrayed the colors as if she was in her own pieces.  Once she returned home, she looked at her practice painting and said that she thinks it looked better in Venice and blamed it on the different lighting.
4. In the Feelings video, what made the biggest impact on you in regards to color and it's effects on emotions? This videos biggest impact on me was when Fransisco Goyas' paintings were shown. He used dark colors for his work which made it obvious that he interpreted the world as this darkness. He probably tried to portray the way he felt through the French Revolution. His painting tends to relate to things with negative energy. He really knew how to get his emotions to speak in his paintings.
