Art visit 2

The Gallery
1. There were spotlights on everything. Each work had its own shine in the glory look to it.

2. The walls were a white creamy color.

3. The materials used on the inside were picture frames and shelves to hold up the work.

4. It as very spaced out and no one was crowded together looking at art.

The Artwork

1. The artwork is organized by artist. Each artist had their group of work together in the halls.

2. The art all connected depending on the artist. All their pieces seem to work together in some way but also were completely different at the same time.

3. The art was different because of the way they were designed or the materials used. Each piece had it's own meaning.

4. Some art hangs up while others were on platforms.

5.  The art was identified by little blocks next to the art with the artist name, art name, and date.

6. Each piece was spaced out and gives viewers enough room to be in spotlight.

I see a hand with a child in the palm. The child seems to be naked. It's black and white.

The elements used were emphasis, value, space.  Emphasis is shown because the piece is so dramatic. Your eyes are drawn to the spotlight of the little boy dancing around on a palm of a hand. Value was shown by the shadows on the hand and the boys shadow. It makes the picture look 3D. Space was shown because of the way the hand was placed in the center of the page along with the boy and everything else is just a blank, black space. It creates a dramatic vibe which emphasis' the meaning.

I believe this artist was trying to show its viewers how he feels his life started.  Rogers was adopted and went through many foster homes. The meaning of this photo seems to be the start off. an innocent child with nowhere to go besides circle around a palm of a hand. With no choice at all.

I see two people in two dull colors surrounded by what seems to replicate demons. It looks like a forest of hell.

Elements shown here are value, proportion, color, unity. Value is shown with the way the shadows create depth. Proportion is shown with the black ghost figures and the way they are big in the middle but small along the sides.  Color is shown through the artwork, the colors are spastic and bright but also dull at the same time. Unity is shown because the artwork is thrown all over but it all seems to connect.

The artist in this piece was showing another step in his life. He met a lot of people good and bad, some manage to be demons in the bumpy and dark past he has had. That is where the first comes into play. Forest are hard to navigate through and dark, sometimes scary. By putting that in the background it emphasis' the dark and alone feeling created throughout his life.

Title- Deliverance from the Visions of Faith
Media- Oil
Date- 2000

The painting shows hands letting go of a child going into the sky past a gray and cloudy sky.

Elements used are shape, color, proportion, movement. Shape is shown with the way the clouds were designed. Color is shown in the clouds and sky, the dark and bright create a balance with each other. Proportion is shown with the hands and little child. The child is small so he looks farther away. Movement is shown in the clouds and how they seem to flow towards the right.

The meaning of this painting seems to be someone letting go of their child or maybe even their soul and letting it go to God.  Letting go of the darkness that has filled the past and letting God come into play and help create a healthier life.
