Module 15 - Guernica

- Taking my first glance at The Guernica, it was really hard to understand what was even happening. This oil painting is considered to be a moral with many different tortuous images created in it.  There's many elements and principals tat were brought to this piece such as; line, shape, form, value, and movement.  Looking at this picture my eyes dart from one place to another. there is no one thing that draws the attention.

- The Guernica was made in 1937 by Picasso. This piece was created around the Civil War time period which makes sense because it seems as if the painting was a testimony of war.

-  The painting was create in a time filled with war, death, and a lot of chaos. Picasso uses symbolism to express this time period. The painting is crazy, it's filled with shapes and forms which make the people and animals. Looking at the faces that were created, it creates a horrifying feeling.  I took this as Picasso created these figures like this to relate to the people who were around that time. Some figures look as if they're dying or helpless and the animals look like beast chasing the humans. This artwork is symbolizing the atmosphere of the Civil War.

-  The elements are abundant throughout the painting.  The shapes helped create the images of people and beast and the forms look like people. Picasso used lines to help create this piece.  Picasso knew how to use most principle and and elements to create a masterpiece of chaos.

- This piece is very unique but it definitely has a weakness. It's very messy looking. It's had to look at and want to pay attention just because there is so much going on.  It's a very confusing piece and definitely takes a while to get a hold of the main concept.
