Module 9. project

1)  It was hard to use my hand as a subject to draw. I'm not good at drawing to begin with but it was definitely challenging. 2) Pencil. I enjoy using pencil because it isn't as dirty and messy. 3) Embarrassed. I mean, look at that picture. It's a rough set of hands. 4) The studies are successful. It was a struggle and drawing with my left hand definitely shows that. 5) NO WAY. lol

Module 9

The Drawing of Michelangelo  Michelangelo made art for most of his life but most his drawings were destroyed.  He was a talented artist and his skills were more than just drawing skills. He took pride in his skills but, he also held himself to higher standards when it came to his art.  He made complex pieces that were very beautiful but he even had some unfinished sketches that were incredible as well. Leonardo da Vinci: The Mind of The Renaissance Leonardo da Vinci is known as the renaissance man, he was able to put scientific methods to his art and also music. He made expressive and beautiful artwork, and was able to make inventions that were known as ground breaking during the time. He was quick and keen to let his mind wander and make these discoveries. He is known as one of the best Italian painters of all time.  He was talented at many things such as; painting, sculpting, architect, and engineer. I found the videos kind of unpleasing and boring. They did go into depth and h

More Human than Human  I enjoyed this video and found it very interesting. This video shows how art from our past effects the world as we know it today. He seemed to really focus on art throughout many years. My favorite quote from this video was "We will see how us humans made art but also how art made us humans."  I also enjoyed when he started to converse about the way we view each other and how the brain effects the way we view ourselves.  He also said that the way we see art is not realistic, and mentioned that art we see of human bodies doesn't look the way we think it should/would. The Measure of All Things: Greek Art and Human Figure This video was also very interesting. It demonstrated greek art and how it went from displaying religious figures in the work to showing human figures it also points out that there was a shift to the people that were captured by the art. They were able to create figures of idealistic human figures. This art seemed to influence t

Architecture: The Science of Design  The idea of architecture is very interesting.  To be seen as an art and science is something very cool.  It is a foundation to everything we see on a day to day basis. Architects take a lot of time to create the buildings we live in, the bridges we drive over, and the monuments that are admired today.  They help create structured things that can withstand extreme conditions.  This video demonstrates the time, effort, and knowledge that it takes to make these things, and it also shows the materials that are used in todays architecture.  I enjoyed this video and thought it went well with chapter 13.  The book talked more in details about the structure while the video gave examples of structure of buildings but not as much as the book. Last Call for Planet Earth: Sustainable Development and Architecture  This video talks about a common issue that is considered very important in modern day society. Everything is about taking the world more sustaina

I agreed with both of my classmates elements and principles projects. I really liked looking at others projects and seeing how they perceived the project. No one really did it the exact same way.  3. Module 6

Through the Eyes of a Sculptor: I find sculpting is a very beautiful thing. Sculptor are when artist is able to create art through using things like clay, plaster, and marble. The video shows an art studio of Emmanuel Fillion, and the video shows him making a life sized marble sculpture. Fillion identifies himself as a restoration artist.  When his artwork is viewed people see it as inspirational and beautiful.  I was very impressed with his work that replicated sculptors of women. He really knew how to mature the beauty of women, like bringing their beauty to life through art.  Sculptors are very, very delicate and expensive so, people who are around them need to be extremely careful in transporting them.  Avoiding breakage is difficult so to do it the artist created bridges between delicate pieces that will stay attached during the process.  When the sculptor is placed in the area it needs to be, the artist will then finish the artwork, he or she will remove the bridges and finish
