Self Portrait/ Art Gallery Visit This painting of a woman. I considered this to be somewhat of a self portrait due to the fact that it is just ahead shot of the side of her body. This is a self portrait painting of an old man. it is very bland and straight forward but I liked the look of it because of the way the colors connected This is my self portrait. I am not much of a drawer...I really had no clue what I was doing. I found it really interesting on how to draw my own face though. It looks nothing like me so obviously it didn't go as planned. I had fun messing around this it though. I thought the outcome was very amusing.

My first expectation was to just learn more about art and the way things have been created and my expectations were definitely met. Art is freedom. Art gives people a chance to do whatever they want and create how ever they want with no rules. Beauty is freedom and each art piece we have discovered in this course taught me that.  Henri Cartier-Bresson. is still my favorite artist. Photography is always going to be my first love when coming to art.  I love taking online courses. It makes the college life a lot easier.

Module 15 - Guernica

1- Taking my first glance at The Guernica, it was really hard to understand what was even happening. This oil painting is considered to be a moral with many different tortuous images created in it.  There's many elements and principals tat were brought to this piece such as; line, shape, form, value, and movement.  Looking at this picture my eyes dart from one place to another. there is no one thing that draws the attention. 2- The Guernica was made in 1937 by Picasso. This piece was created around the Civil War time period which makes sense because it seems as if the painting was a testimony of war. 3-  The painting was create in a time filled with war, death, and a lot of chaos. Picasso uses symbolism to express this time period. The painting is crazy, it's filled with shapes and forms which make the people and animals. Looking at the faces that were created, it creates a horrifying feeling.  I took this as Picasso created these figures like this to relate to the people w

Uncertainty: Modernity Art I picked this video because it seemed like it would be an interesting topic to learn about. I have never really heard of Modernity Art before. Art has changed throughout the years. 20th Century art put more action on negative emotions such as chaos, anxiety, and uncertainty.   The piece in the video was created by Pablo Picasso. Picasso focused on the contrast while Paul Klee worked on the abstract, and Piet Mondrian and the artitecture of Le Corbusier. Modern life's relationship with modern art helped make changes to art expressionism.  It also changed Pop at. It is very clear the way that art has changed throughout time just by looking into art down the time line.  This video goes into more than the text did. It helped getting visuals rather than relaying on text to explain everything. Andy Warhol: Images of an Image I also picked this video because I was familiar with Warhol. I liked getting to know more about him. Warhol commented on mass media

Chapter 11

Expressionism- This is a type of artistic style where artist seek the subjective emotions and responses that certain objects and different events bring out in a person.  Artist normally create this type of art through distortion, exaggeration, and fantasy.  Expressionism started to become more noticeable in the 19th century.  This was because this type of art allowed a lot of people to express themselves in ways they couldn't before. I chose this video because I have heard about expressionism before and actually had an Idea of the concept.  I thought the video was dry but I learned some cool stuff that I didn't know before. The Impact of Cubism-   Cubism is a revolutionary type of modern art that was developed by Picasso and Braques. This was the first type of abstract art to exist.
